Southwestern Graduate School of Banking students and graduates have the unique opportunity to earn their MBA from SMU Cox faster and save up to $26,000. For SWGSB graduates admitted to one of the 5 MBA programs at SMU: Full-Time Two-Year MBA, Full-Time One-Year MBA, Professional MBA, Executive MBA or Online MBA, the SMU Cox School of Business now grants eight (8) graduate credit hours (equivalent to four MBA elective module courses valued up to $16,000 in tuition and fees) on a Pass/Fail basis. This credit is awarded only to SWGSB graduates from the two graduating classes prior to the student's admission to the Cox School. Current SWGSB students enrolling in a Cox MBA may apply their SWGSB credit to the MBA program as they earn it. The credits will be treated as general MBA elective credits and will not count toward any specific area of concentration. Additionally, all SWGSB students and alumni (not just those graduating within two prior classes) admitted to an MBA Program at SMU Cox will receive a $10,000 scholarship.

Additional MBA Options

A growing list of universities have recognized SWGSB for its outstanding program - one that merits MBA credit. In addition to those listed above, Sam Houston State University offers SWGSB credit hours toward its Executive MBA in Banking and Financial Institutions. This is a two-year, two-week summer residence program which includes online classroom activities. For more information contact James B. Bexley, Chair, Smith-Hutson Endowed Chair of Banking.

MBA credit at other universities is at the sole discretion of the accepting university. Each retains the right to award, or not award, credit for graduation from the SW Graduate School of Banking.

Important to note: SWGSB is a professional program and, as such, does not carry academic semester credit hours from SMU or any other university. The academic credit hours offered by these MBA programs are nontransferable – and available only to those accepted into one of these great programs.
